Our Story

Kathy Kyle is the artist and designer behind Kathy Kyle Studio, a Surrey-based atelier producing hand-painted, ethically made silk scarves and wearable art heirlooms. Her work sits at the intersection of illustration, craft, and slow fashion — pieces designed to be worn for years and passed down, not worn out and replaced.

Each piece draws on a visual language of heritage, identity, culture, and storytelling, underpinned by a values-led, people-and-planet-first approach. Every brushstroke tells a story, inviting the wearer to celebrate who they are, in their own way.

Kathy's scarves are hand-painted, then ethically printed onto 100% mulberry silk in the Pennines, and hand-sewn in Lyon. Her clothing is hand-made in Surrey.

In 2026, Kathy opened a physical shop at Sandrock House, 5 West Street, Dorking.

The British Museum Commission

Kathy was commissioned by the British Museum to create a bespoke silk scarf reimagining the Tudor Heart Pendant, exclusively available at the British Museum's Grenville Gift Shop. The piece reflects her ongoing interest in reinterpreting historic and cultural artefacts through a contemporary, wearable lens.
